Sourcing and fact-checking
We rely on primary sources wherever possible: public records, bill text, budgets, agency guidance, court filings, official data and on-the-record statements. Facts are checked before publication and sources are linked or attributed.
Attribution
We credit other news organizations when we rely on their reporting. We do not publish invented quotes or interviews.
Fairness
We give people and organizations that are the subject of critical reporting a chance to respond, and we avoid naming private individuals in connection with allegations unless there is a clear public interest.
Photos
We use original or properly licensed photographs and credit them.
Advertising
Paid content, if we publish it, is labeled and kept separate from news coverage.
